TRORA 2017: Another Successful Season!
On November 18, 2017 the membership of Three Rivers Outboard Racing Association convened at the race shop of Jesse, Tara and Jase Ward to celebrate a successful season! Commodore Brian Williams reported to the group that TRORA was fortunate to celebrate many local, regional and national successes during the racing year. In addition to many long-term multi-generation members the club is seeing many new and young racers. Banquet attendees enjoyed a wonderful buffett dinner coordinated by the Ward family, and had fun with a raffle while watching vintage footage of old TRORA events.
TRORA class and ballot winners received t-shirts or sweatshirts emblazoned with the TRORA logo, along with a warm round of applause for their achievement. Among club winners for this season:
TRORA Rookie of the Year Mac Miller was recognized for winning club high point championships and finishing 4th in the Junior/Stock National Championships in his Mercury-powered France J-hydro.
TRORA Sportsman of the Year Dave Deck was recognized for his continued efforts to introduce new racers to the sport, coordinated driver schools and loaning his boats and motors to the driving school effort.
Mary Williams was recognized as TRORA's Woman of the Year for her continued work in managing scoring, even after knee surgery shortly before the Frankin, PA race.
TRORA Driver of the Year Nate Mitchell celebrated his award with fellow TRORA member and boat-owner Jeff Williams after winning the 350 Modified Runabout championship at Constantine in June.
